  3. Now that we're getting Windows 11 and things are starting to change up more than the past few years with Windows 10, I un-pinned the old Windows 10 thread and started this one. With the leaked build and the event coming on the 24th things are getting interesting once more.
  4. Twitter CEO Elon Musk kills "Official" tag after less than 24 hours by Justin Luna Bye-bye, double checkmarks! It hasn't even been 24 hours yet, and Twitter has scrapped its newly-launched "Official" checkmark. The feature was originally intended to help users distinguish accounts that have been verified via Twitter Blue and accounts that are verified as official. Twitter's new CEO Elon Musk confirmed this in a reply to Tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee. When the latter found that his "Official" tag disappeared just a few hours after he noticed that he has now two verified checks, Musk replied with "I just killed it." He then went on to say that the original Twitter blue check "will be the great level," indicating that the company will go back to its original plans. Twitter’s verified blue checkmark was originally only used to authenticate high-profile accounts, but was later made available to everyone for $8 a month under the new Twitter Blue subscription. In a separate tweet, Musk said that the company will "do lots of dumb things in coming months." Please note that Twitter will do lots of dumb things in coming months. We will keep what works & change what doesn’t. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) November 9, 2022 Meanwhile, Twitter's director of product management Esther Crawford, who posted about the "Official" tag yesterday, also indicated that Twitter will undergo plenty of changes in the future: There are no sacred cows in product at Twitter anymore. Elon is willing to try lots of things -- many will fail, some will succeed. The goal is to find the right mix of successful changes to ensure the long-term health and growth of the business. https://t.co/cMf27EmmpJ — Esther Crawford ✨ (@esthercrawford) November 9, 2022 Finally, Twitter Support's Twitter account also confirmed that they are no longer providing the new checkmark to users. Instead, they are now going after accounts that engage in impersonation and deception. During the weekend, Elon Musk said that the microblogging site will permanently ban accounts engaging in impersonation — unless they indicate that they are a parody. Source: Elon Musk on Twitter
  5. Twitter to launch "Official" checkmark on top of Twitter Blue checkmark by Justin Luna When business mogul Elon Musk became Twitter's new owner, one of the things he immediately did was to revamp the platform's Twitter Blue subscription. Under the new version, users can get a verified checkmark on their account when they pay $8 monthly, among other benefits. The company, however, seems to be aware that giving verified checkmarks to everyone can get confusing. So to help users distinguish accounts that have been verified via Twitter Blue and accounts that are verified as official, the company is introducing the "Official" label to select accounts. A lot of folks have asked about how you'll be able to distinguish between @TwitterBlue subscribers with blue checkmarks and accounts that are verified as official, which is why we’re introducing the “Official" label to select accounts when we launch. pic.twitter.com/0p2Ae5nWpO — Esther Crawford ✨ (@esthercrawford) November 8, 2022 According to Esther Crawford, director of product management at Twitter, the "Official" tag is not available for purchase. Accounts that will receive this checkmark include government accounts, commercial companies, business partners, major media outlets, publishers and some public figures. She also says that Twitter Blue does not include ID verification. The new Twitter Blue does not include ID verification – it’s an opt-in, paid subscription that offers a blue checkmark and access to select features. We’ll continue to experiment with ways to differentiate between account types. — Esther Crawford ✨ (@esthercrawford) November 8, 2022 Ironically, the account tweeting as Esther Crawford is not verified in any way, and has no "Official" tag. However, the account's tweet history shows that the owner is indeed Crawford herself. She even acknowledged the time she went viral for sleeping at Twitter HQ last week. Many Twitter users have found the new system confusing, as it defeats Elon Musk's goal to get rid of what he calls a "lords and peasants system." A few days ago, "Chief Twit" Elon Musk stated that Twitter will permanently ban impersonator accounts that don't indicate that they are a parody account. Source: Esther Crawford on Twitter

    World of Warcraft

I just thought it would be a good idea to create a central thread for all us fans to discuss the game (experiences, gear, quests, etc.) and for those new or interested to ask questions. Presently I'm a level 22 Paladin and my realm has been down for a good 20 hours, so yeah I'm a little ****ed. Besides that though the game is incredible and in a few weeks I anticipate a new patch to fix the bugs (especially my lvl 20 Paladin quest that gives me a awesome new weapon ) as well as new servers to alleviate the queue issue. How has the world of Azeroth treated the rest of you? Destiny 2

Officially announced yesterday on Bungie's Twitter account. After the poster leaks last week from an Italian site, it is looking like the game is being released on September 8th - Beta expected in June. No official confirmation of a PC release, other than some Gamestop sites listing it. I am personally hyped for it - i've put in over 1500 hours into it and whilst we all had ups and downs, I made many friends during my time
  11. HTC blunder confirms specifications and pricing of its U12 Plus before event by Paul Hill HTC is set to unveil its HTC U12 at an event tomorrow, there’s a good chance it will officially unveil the HTC U12 Plus too. Unfortunately for HTC, its engineers appear to have left a test webpage for the HTC U12 Plus open for the public to see. The mistake, which was quickly rectified, now means that specifications and pricing of the upcoming premium handset were leaked ahead of the official reveal. The premium device will be available in China with a price tag of 5,888 yuan, roughly $920. At least one of the options for the device will include 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. HTC has decided to opt out of using an OLED screen and has instead gone with a 6-inch WQHD+ (1440 x 2880) Super LCD6. The U12 Plus appears to come in a variety of colours including maroon, black, and navy blue. The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor and has a slot to add a microSD card up to 2TB. The U12 Plus is equipped with Boomsound speakers and is classified as IP68-rated water and dust resistance giving it some innate protection against the elements. Lastly, it is powered by a 3,500mAh battery which should see it last for about a day but we won’t know for certain until it gets into people’s hands. Let us know, are you excited for HTC’s upcoming devices? Source: Roland Quandt (Twitter) via The Verge

    Cities: Skylines

Just wondering if anyone here plays this. It just came out yesterday. I've been a simcity fan for years, since I was a kid (I'm almost 28 now). I like it alot, bigger than Simcity. I think it's a little harder though. Some reviews: http://kotaku.com/cities-skylines-the-kotaku-review-1690432932 http://www.ign.com/articles/2015/03/10/cities-skylines-review

    Horizon Zero Dawn

I just started playing it this past weekend and didn't see a topic for it here so figured I'd start one. I don't think I'm very far in... I just got to my first Cauldren (currently saved at the boss fight at the end?) I don't want to say much more yet for fear of spoilers but if you're playing it and past me that should mean something to you and if you're not I'm hoping it's just jibberish. Anyway overall I'm enjoying the game. The graphics are beautiful and it's only the second game I got (the other being Deus Ex) that supports HDR on my TV (using a launch PS4, I don't have a Pro). The story is good so far but again I don't feel like I'm far in and it's still mostly a mystery so it could either blow my mind or disappoint as it fills in at this point. I'm an "open world" type gamer and it feels a little less open and a little more Story based then I'd prefer but it's still very good and I fully understand most people don't like games as open as I do. I'd say it's more like Witcher then Elder Scrolls in it's level of openness. Also like Witcher you are a specific person instead of getting to make your own. That was one (VERY MINOR) thing I didn't like about Witcher but I at least understood it there because it's based off of books about the character. Here it's a new IP so I don't know why the couldn't have given you some basic hair/eye/skin tone/build customizations and perhaps a sex selection option but oh well. Again it's VERY minor I feel like if the protagonist was male there would have been an outcry from SJWs about not having a female option... but it's fine to have only a female. On a side note the main character does remind me a lot of Merida from Disney's Brave (which is a good thing as I loved Brave). Anyone else get that?

  17. HTC officially unveils the squeezable semi-translucent U11+ by Dreyer Smit Without making too much of a fuss, HTC has officially taken the veil off of the not-so-secret U11+, a larger sibling to the flagship the company launched earlier this year. The device brings along with it the same elegant design, incorporates an edge-to-edge display, and a squeezable frame that one can find on devices like the Google Pixel 2. Specification-wise, the device isn't a far cry from what has been leaked earlier, with it sporting the usual flagship specifications. The U11+ is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, with it coming with two flavors in relation to its storage and RAM configurations; namely a 4GB RAM with 64GB storage option, and a 6GB RAM with 128GB storage onboard. The display follows the trend set by devices like the Samsung Galaxy S8, with it being a 6-inch QHD+ DCI-P3 compliant panel that supports HDR10. Size wise it's a little taller than the U11, by 4.5mm to be exact, which makes way for the 3930 mAh battery, that should help power the display through the average workday. Beyond that, the device does not feature a 3.5mm headphone jack as is the "norm" with flagship devices these days, however, it does come with HTC USonic noise-canceling USB-C headphones in the box. As for the front-facing speakers, these are powered by BoomSound and are reportedly 30% louder than their counterparts on the slightly smaller U11. As for the camera, the device sports a 12M sensor with a f/1.7 aperture with phase detect autofocus, optical image stabilization, and a dual-LED flash. On the flip side, the front-facing camera is powered by an 8M shooter with a f/2.0 aperture, which should make for some good looking selfies. Full specifications for the device are: 6-inch Super LCD 6 display, Quad HD+ (2880 x 1440) with Corning® Gorilla™ Glass 5 Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 64-bit octa-core, up to 2.45GHz IP68 dust and water resistant 4GB RAM / 64GB storage or 6GB RAM / 128GB storage microSD expandable storage (up to 2TB) 12MP main camera with 1.4μm pixels, BSI sensor, OIS, f/1.7 aperture, dual LED flash 8MP selfie camera with 85° field of view, BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture Sensors: Edge Sensor, Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Motion G-sensor, Compass sensor, Gyro sensor, Magnetic sensor, Fingerprint sensor 3930mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support USB 3.1 Gen 1, Type-C with Quick Charge 3.0 Bluetooth® 5.0 Wi-Fi®: 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 & 5GHz) NFC Size: 158.5 x 74.9 x 8.5mm Weight: 188g As for the strange coil visible through the translucent glass, the device, unfortunately, does not support wireless charging as it would suggest. HTC has not yet updated its official site or noted in its mailed PR statement in which markets the U11+ will be available; however, according to The Verge who had some hands-on time with it, the U11+ will be available to buy unlocked, with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, for £699 from November 20th in the UK, and in Europe, where the device will cost €799. We will keep you updated once more information is made available. For more images of the device, check out the gallery below.
  18. The Nokia 2 is now official with a price tag of €99 by Usama Jawad A few days ago, news emerged that an unannounced device from HMD Global, namely the Nokia 2, had passed regulatory approval in Russia. The handset then showed up for pre-order in the United States with a price tag of $99. We first heard about the smartphone back in July, along with the Nokia 7 and 8, but it wasn't officially announced at the time. Now, HMD Global has formally unveiled the handset, and as the name implies, it's a budget phone positioned below the Nokia 3. Priced at €99, the Nokia 2 offers modest specifications such as 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It also packs a 5-inch 720p display and boasts a 4,100mAh battery. The detailed specifications and features of the device include: Operating System: Android 7.1.1 Nougat Display: 5.0-inch IPS LCD 1280 x 720 (312ppi) Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 212, Quad-core Cortex A7 up to 1.3GHz GPU: Adreno 304 RAM: 1GB Storage: 8GB Battery: 4,100mAh Charging: MicroUSB Rear camera: 8MP Front camera: 5MP Connectivity: LTE with VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 SIM: Dual SIM slot As can be seen, the entry-level Nokia 2 is aimed at those on a budget, and HMD Global says that it will be getting Android 8.0 Oreo soon as well, which should be welcome news for those who like to experience the latest iterations of the operating system. The Nokia 2 joins HMD's steadily growing lineup of Nokia-branded devices. According to Android Central, since HMD Global's licensing deal with Nokia, the company has released 11 handsets globally, with the brand now active in more than 80 countries. The firm ambitiously hopes to get its phones into 100,000 stores by the end of this year. Source: Android Central (1) (2)

    XCOM 2

Anyone else excited for this? Fallout 4 was a blast, but it got repetitive pretty quick. I'm expecting this to keep me occupied for quite a while. *fingers crossed*
